Email usPark Home Life has been helping people enjoy relaxed residential park lifestyles for over 50 years now. We’ve been asked a lot of questions about our parks and here are some of the more common ones we’ve been asked recently – together with our answers.
Do I have to move out for a month or two each year?
No. Unlike parks with a ‘Holiday Park’ site licence, all our parks are Fully Residential, so you are able to live there permanently, all year round.
How are homes heated?
All the new homes on our parks are on mains gas and central heating systems are run by a combi-boiler. Heating and hot water are instant.
How are utilities managed?
This varies from park to park. For instance, at Orchard Park near Gloucester, all utilities are metered to the home, so you deal direct with the Energy Company and water company and are eligible for duel fuel discount.
Meanwhile at Blunsdon Abbey Park all utilities are metered to the home and water and electric are billed to you by the park. In most instances, this comes in a little cheaper than domestic utilities. With gas, you can opt for a provider of your choice. A quick call to the park you are interested in will tell you all you want to know.
What about Council Tax?
All our residential park homes are Band A, so you pay the lowest level of Council Tax. This is payable to the local council.
Are the homes fully insulated?
Yes. All our park homes conform to British Standard 3632 and comply with all the relevant insulation, ventilation and heating jurisdiction associated with this British Standard. Modern park homes are much better insulated than traditionally built houses, which is good news for our residents and their fuel bills as well as the environment.
Why do I need to pay a Pitch Fee?
The Pitch Fee gives you the right to site the home on the park’s land and subsidises maintenance of all the communal facilities and areas within each park. This includes street lighting, utilities beneath the surface, communal areas hedge cutting, landscape maintenance and grass cutting.
What does the price of the home include?
Most new homes include a full furniture package, all white goods in the kitchen (most of which are fully integrated), a block paved driveway, a garage or store room with power and lighting, landscaping and lawn to the plot, plus two sets of steps into the home and a brick skirt surround.
Will the home have to be removed after 10 years?
Absolutely not. Our parks are Fully Residential so when you purchase your home you will receive a Written Statement. This includes The Mobile Home Act 1983, which constitutes your security of tenure.
Is there an age restriction on the park?
Yes. Our parks are all created and maintained to provide an attractive and peaceful environment for people aged over 50 to enjoy. All residents must be 50 or over.
Can my grandchildren come and stay?
Of course. It’s your home, so your grandchildren are more than welcome to visit and stay over.
Are there park rules?
Yes, there are. These have been designed together with our residents so vary from park to park. They are all in place for the mutual benefit and wellbeing of all our residents.
Are the park homes really just posh caravans?
Absolutely not – come and see for yourself!
Modern park homes are usually two-bedroom homes, sometimes with an en-suite, plus a living room, dining area and fully fitted kitchen and bathroom. There is also a huge amount of flexibility in size, layout and design.
We can’t say for sure that no two homes are the same, but we’d be very surprised if they were!
