Finding fun activities over the holidays can be a little bit of a challenge – but luckily in Gloucestershire there are plenty of fun things to do to keep all ages entertained..
Over Farm – A family run farm and farm shop, this isn’t just a great place to get some fresh local produce. Over the summer visitors come to the farm to enjoy the many activities on offer – from pick your own strawberries to friendly farm animals there is plenty to enjoy throughout the holidays. The popular family farm trail is a great way to burn energy – this activity filled trail includes sandpits, mazes and even duck racing! There is even a quiz to complete on the way around with a prize at the end!
Cotswold Wildlife Park – For animal lovers Cotswold Wildlife park is the perfect place to be. From large animals such as lions, giraffes and rhinos to smaller penguins, bats and even a wide range of minibeasts, the whole family will enjoy it! Enjoy a ride on the steam train around the park to take in the sights of the safari and children can play on the adventure playground – it’s a great day out for all.
Clearwell Caves – The British summer can be a little unpredictable with the weather but Clearwell caves is the perfect place for those rainy days. These ancient caves date back over 4000 years and are home to many fascinating treasures and packed full of history. Explore the underground world, from the resident bats that live here, to the miners who worked here, there is plenty to see and do, and there is even a ‘skeleton pool’ where the bones of extinct animals can be seen entombed in the rocks.
Gloucester Ski and Snowboard Centre – For adrenaline junkies this is the perfect day out! Whether you have experience with skiing and snowboarding or are a complete beginner, this is the place to hit the slopes and have a go! Another fun activity that the centre offers is tubing – zoom downhill on an inflatable tyre and see how fast you can go! If you still have energy, the centre also has outdoor laser tag and food and drink available to refuel after all that!
Sandford Park Lido – This popular outdoor pool is the perfect place to get a holiday atmosphere with the family in Gloucestershire. Head here on a sunny day and enjoy a swim and an ice cream. The lido has two pools – an adult pool and a children’s pool which are both heated, so if it does get a bit chilly you will be warm in the water! There’s a café on site too so you can enjoy a whole day here and something substantial to eat – ready for another swim!
