Supporting GW Hospital’s Brighter Futures Appeal
When the Blunsdon Abbey Park Social & Entertainment Committee was formed it was decided that we would support a local charity and that Swindon’s Great Western Hospital’s ‘Brighter Futures Appeal’ for a Radiography Unit would be a worthy cause.
Currently, anyone needing treatment has to travel to Oxford – a round trip of 60 miles. The Appeal’s is hoping to fund an extra special level of care in order to make a real difference to patients, their families and our staff who treat them, above what the NHS is able to provide.
Our Blunsdon Abbey residents have taken Brighter Futures to their hearts and at our recent St George’s Tea Party, prizes were raffled, beer was donated and watercolour paintings and cards were sold to fundraise for the Appeal.
A marquee was erected and plenty of sandwiches and cakes made – all the day needed was glorious weather. But although the rain held off, it was a little chilly, but this didn?t dampen the spirit or stop the proceedings. Tea and coffee in abundance, plenty of food, music and camaraderie, plenty of chat and a raffle to boot, ensured that St Georges Day at Blunsdon Abbey Park was celebrated by all in style.
With the newly formed Social Committee and a refurbished Residents Room, Blunsdon Abbey Park residents are now arranging many more exciting social events such a quiz nights, weekly coffee mornings and activities for the over 50?s community.
Park Home Life are very proud to support the Social Committee with this worthy local cause and we pledge to make a donation from any proceeds of future functions we help them organise.
