Jet Age Museum, GL2 9QL – 2 miles from Orchard Park. A haven of memorabilia dedicated to the preservation of Gloucestershire’s rich aviation heritage.
Gloucester Cathedral, GL1 2LX – 3 miles from Orchard Park. Known as the Cathedral of the Costwolds, this stunning building, in the heart of the city, with free entry, is a must to see whilst visiting the area.
Gloucester Life Museum, GL1 1HP – 3 miles from Orchard Park. With its dedication to social history, this museum is one of the oldest, set within 3 Tudor timber framed buildings, 500 years of age. A great place to visit even if just to see the beautiful buildings themselves.
Barnwood Arborteum, GL4 3JB – 3 miles from Orchard Park. Get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life and take a walk through the trees and the grounds of Barnwood Arboretum and Park and feed the ducks with the grandchildren, on the small stream running through the park. A peaceful place to spend and hour or 2.
Nature in Art, GL2 9PG, just across the road from Orchard Park. “The worlds first museum and art gallery dedicated to fine, decorative and applied art inspired by nature”. Take a stroll along the leafy winding single track and enjoy the open countryside on your way to visiting this beautiful historic building on the edge of Twigworth and the neighbouring village of Sandhurst. A host of special events are held throughout the year including Langley Mill Pottery, Silk Painting by Jackie Cox and the Heart and Soul Choir.
Gloucester Quays, GL1 5SH – 4 miles from Orchard Park. A variety of designer shops built within the historic docks in Gloucester. From every day essentials to treats galore, eateries and coffee shops, open 7 days a week. Easy to park and a short walk will give you the opportunity to spoil yourself when visiting the area.
Kingsholm Rugby, the home of the Cherry and Whites – GL1 3AX, on the bus route from outside the park. For all you avid rugby fans out there, why not make the move to Orchard Park and enjoy each and every match played at home by the Cherry and Whites. a great afternoon or evening our with a pint of 2 with friends. Also hosting, out of the rugby season music events with Tom Jones, Elton John, Little Mix and more that have already starred on the hallowed ground during the Summer months. The new up and coming music venue of the South West.
Tewkesbury Abbey, GL20 5RZ – 7.8 miles – Catch the bus outside the park that stops every hour and take a trip to the beautiful medieval town of Tewkesbury and take a visit to the delightful Tewkesbury Abbey. Steeped in history as a Benedictine Monastery and serves as a Parish Church, this beautiful building is one of the “finest examples of Norman Architecture in Britain and has probably the largest Romanesque crossing tower in Europe” Make a day of your visit and take a trip to the quaint medieval streets of the town and perhaps go for a swim in the brand new Cascades Leisure complex whilst you are there, or perhaps indulge yourself with an afternoon tea and visit the grounds of Tewkesbury Hotel and golf course, set on a hill just on the outskirts of this beautiful town.
Bourton on the Water, Gloucestershire – 24.7 miles from Orchard Park. Located only 24.7 miles away this lovely village is a beautiful example of a Cotswold Village at its best. Take the grandchildren for the day to feed the ducks. Visit the museum or the village shop or spend a lazy sunny afternoon enjoying an nice cool drink and watch the world go by.
Cheltenham Everyman Theatre, GL50 1HQ – 7.4 miles from Orchard Park. Fancy a trip to the theatre. With the Everyman Theatre being quite close, take a trip to Cheltenham, spend the day shopping and perhaps have a bite to eat and then take in a show, a comedian, a music event or play whilst you are there.
